The Greek steamship Aghios Spyridon was torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine UC-47 (Paul Hundius), 5 miles off Pendeen Lighthouse, on February 12th, 1917. The ship was on a voyage from Swansea to Naples with a cargo of coal. Master G.A. Vroule.
