Donated by David InnesWhitaker stationers was owned by J.R. Whitaker and Mrs. E. Whitaker then the business was owned by Mr. D.W.Innes and Mrs. A. Innes. In 1980 the shop relocated to another unit in Middleton Grange Town Centre.

Whitakers in Church Square

Donated by Hartlepool Museum ServiceFor many years, Whitaker's bookshop and stationers was in Church Squake.In 1966, they had taken over the upstairs of Knight's the grocer extending the shop considerably.
When Middleton Grange Shopping Centre opened, Whitaker's took a unit on the upper level which still sold books but also sold a lot of art supplies for local students.
