Montgomery - a general history

Shields Daily Gazette, Thursday, August 4th, 1904:
WEST HARTLEPOOL STEAMER SUNK. Bordeaux, Wednesday. The British steamer Montgomery went ashore yesterday at Bee Ambes (?). Two tugs came to her assistance and were successful in drawing her into deep water, the vessel had apparently broken her back in the grounding, and sank with her cargo. The Montgomery is a steel screw-steamer of 3,471 tons, built by W. Doxford and Sons, Sunderland, in 189S, and belonged to the Horsley Line, Ltd., West Hartlepool.
