The British steamship Gretaston was torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine UC-72 (Gerhard Schulz) off Bordeaux, on April 30th, 1917. The ship was on a voyage from Huelva, Spain, to Garston with a cargo of copper ore. All 29 crew were lost. Master W. Niven.
