Fate

The British steamship Swan River was torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine U-39 (Walter Forstmann), 27 miles off Oran, Algeria, on September 27th, 1917. The ship was on a voyage from Gibraltar to Benisaf, Algeria, in ballast. No lives were lost. Master F. Walker.
