Fate

On a voyage from Pomarin for Stettin with a cargo of iron minerals and a crew of 19, the Magnet was run down by the Liverpool barque British Princess off the Galloper Lightvessel, near Orfordness, on 16th March, 1898. The Magnet broke in two and sank almost immediately with the loss of all 19 crew. Seven lifebelts from the vessel were later picked up at Sandgate.
