What we know about this image :
From an etching by Thomas Thorpe of Darlington. Thomas tried to sell his work in Hartlepool & Seaton but it did not prove popular so he returned to Darlington.
The lighthouse & a windmill can be seen at the extreme north end of the image.
I believe that Hartlepool Museums have the original painting in their collection.
