1979 - West Hartlepool - Back in the North Merit Table

What we know about this image :

After losing their North Merit Table status at the end of 77/78, West reversed their fortunes under Paul Stacey (who also captained the Durham County XV this season) and regained their place in the Table.

The season was also marked with a new recruit in Colyn Price, the Lydney flay half, who had played for England Colts for two seasons. Derek Boyd played for the North against Argentina and then against the All Blacks at Birkenhead Park. Another player, who is not pictured, was Reg Clark who gained the first of his “Blues” at Oxford.
