				On February 21st 1962 there was a serious accident when the boiler of the 17,000 ton ship Haranger blew up in Graythorp dockyard. Two men were killed, Frederick Longstaff, 67, of Central Estate and father of six George Douglas, 41, of Macrae Rd Owton Manor. Many were badly injured and the image shows one of the ambulances taking casualties to Hartlepool Hospital. The ship can be seen in the background.
