1935 - Outstanding Players - Carl Aarvold -

Another West man to Captain, the England XV, among other Representative honours was Carl Aarvold, who was born in the town and attended Durham School and Emmanuel College Cambridge where he gained a Blue.  His early career saw him play in the centre with West, Headingley, and Blackheath. With Durham County he played 22 times in all, which included the Captaincy. His England career saw him win 16 caps, six of the matches he played as Captain, and in addition he was a Barbarian, and toured Argentina in 1927 and Australia in 1930 with the British Lions.
